About this day out
Wetlands Nature Reserve is a six-hectare (15-acre) reserve specially created to provide a range of habitats for local plant and animal species. Acting as a large sponge, it stores rainwater during heavy rainfall and reduces the likelihood of flooding downstream, with ponds filled naturally so water levels fluctuate. Managed with the Cambridgeshire Wildlife Trust and a Community Conservation Group, it supports wildlife across grassland, hedgerows, woodland and aquatic/marginal vegetation, with activities such as Bat Nights and monthly wildlife walks.
