About this day out
Tutbury Museum is sited in the Old Soup Kitchen, on the ground floor of Charity House, centrally located in Tutbury village. Staffed entirely by volunteers, its collection includes old maps, documents, photographs and artefacts of the area, along with transcribed Parish registers from 1668 to 1965 and local Censuses. The museum offers free access to family history databases and free one-to-one introductory tuition sessions for those starting family history research.
When to go
Opening calendar
Wednesday to Friday 1:30pm–4:00pm; Saturday 10:30am–4:00pm; also open most Sunday afternoons and Bank Holidays when staff availability allows (contact in advance if travelling far). Temporarily closed for refurbishment from Friday 21 August to Wednesday 16 September, with the season expected to extend through October after reopening.
