The experience
About this day out

Once part of the Rothschild family's aristocratic estate, it offers wildflowers and butterflies in spring and summer, plus historic follies and stunning views year round. Practical details
Facilities & accessibility
At a glance
- Accessibility
- Wide entrances are suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, though the track can become muddy in places. The main path (King Charles Ride) is semi-surfaced and firm underfoot, while other woodland paths are unsurfaced and parkland paths are typically grass; all can become extremely muddy and slippery in adverse weather. The majority of parkland walks include a relatively steep incline. Two of the nine entrances feature steps and four have kissing gates; one gate towards the Obelisk has been modified to allow for a mobility scooter.
- Parking
- Free Woodland Trust car park off Hastoe Lane, Tring, HP23 6AR, with space for 50 cars, cycle racks and a welcome hub with seating (7.30am-8pm BST, 7.30am-6pm winter, closed Christmas Day). Also a free joint Woodland Trust and Natural History Museum at Tring car park (Mon-Sat 10am-4pm, Sun 2-5pm) with four blue badge spaces, plus car parks in Tring town centre.
