About this day out

Torre Abbey is Torbay's most historic building, an Ancient Scheduled Monument dating back to 1196, set within 18 acres of garden and parkland. Its beautifully presented heritage rooms are home to over 600 works of art from the 18th century to the present day, alongside an 800 years of history gallery with interactive displays. The award-winning gardens feature Palm and Cactus Houses containing endangered palms from Kew Gardens and a 'Potent Plants Garden' celebrating Agatha Christie.

Accessibility: 96% of the main building is accessible via wheelchair or mobility scooters; lifts operate to all floors and step lifts are in place where short flights of stairs exist. Many garden areas can be reached by mobility aids, with staff able to open a side garden gate. Accessible toilets are available, manual wheelchairs can be borrowed free of charge, and carers are admitted free to paying exhibitions and events.
Parking: Nearest car park is Torre Valley (Torbay Council). Drop-off point and limited parking within the grounds for disabled visitors, including three Blue Badge spaces close to the main entrance. Free coach parking nearby at the rear of Torquay train station.
Dogs: Assistance dogs are welcome at the museum. Non-assistance dogs cannot enter the house or gardens but are very welcome in the café, where staff will provide drinking water.
