About this day out

Thomas Plume's Library was founded in 1704 under the terms of Dr Thomas Plume's will and houses his collection of c.8,100 books and pamphlets on their original shelves in the former St Peter's Church building on the corner of Market Hill and the High Street in Maldon. It also holds his small collection of paintings. Books may be consulted by appointment during normal opening hours, and the catalogue can be consulted online.

Accessibility: Entrance is via a spiral stone staircase; the building is not suitable for those with mobility issues. A video tour of the Library is available on a screen in the Maeldune Heritage Centre (ground floor) for those who can't manage the stairs.
Parking: No on-site parking, but two pay-and-display car parks (White Horse car park and Butt Lane car park) are within easy walking distance.
