The experience

About this day out

Over 900 years old, Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and best preserved medieval castles in England, withstanding a three-year siege during the Civil War. Visitors can explore every corner on a self-guiding one-way route taking up to an hour and a half, from the Dungeon to the top of the Watch Tower, with free illustrated tour sheets available in ten languages.

Parking
Car parking can be booked online with your castle booking or paid to the attendant on arrival; sat nav BD23 1UA. Bailey Car Park closes at 6pm (Sat-Sun at 5pm from October to March).
Dogs
Dogs are allowed on a short lead within the Castle, except in the Tearoom & Shop. Dogs are also allowed in Skipton Castle Woods but must be kept on a lead.
