About this day out

Ham Wall is an RSPB wetland nature reserve between Meare and Ashcott in Somerset, teeming with wildlife from booming Bitterns and colourful Kingfishers to Water Voles and Otters. Extensive reedbeds give way to open water, with sweeping views across the marshes to Glastonbury Tor. The reserve offers more than 3 miles (5 km) of trails, hides, viewing platforms and screens, and hosts starling murmurations in the Avalon Marshes.

Parking: Car park open daily in line with seasonal hours, 120 spaces including 5 Blue Badge spaces, plus 2 Blue Badge spaces within the reserve near viewing platforms (RADAR key access). No overnight parking or camping; no height restriction barrier; bicycle racks available; visitors asked not to park on roads, verges or gateways.
Dogs: Dogs welcome on public footpaths around the reserve and on the Ham Wall Loop (except the path to Avalon Hide), on a short lead; not permitted on the Reedbed, Waltons Heath and Loxtons Marsh trails except assistance dogs. Dog water bowl at the car park info point; no dog waste bins on site.
