The experience

About this day out

The Matthew of Bristol is a modern reconstruction of the ship in which John Cabot sailed to Newfoundland in 1497. Moored at Princes Wharf in central Bristol, visitors can board for free, climb to the upper decks and chat with volunteer guides. The ship also runs public trips around Bristol's Floating Harbour and the Avon Gorge, and is available for private hire, school trips, filming and photoshoots.
