Wool and cotton mills in Lancashire, England
The experience
About this day out
Helmshore Mills Textile Museum consists of two historic working mills, Higher Mill (a wool-fulling mill built in 1789) and Whitaker's Mill (a cotton mill built in the 1820s), set in the Rossendale Valley. Visitors can see original working machinery demonstrations, including a waterwheel, carding engines and spinning mules, and explore collections telling the wool and cotton stories of the Industrial Revolution.
