About this day out
The Georgian House is an Edinburgh New Town townhouse restored to reflect the lives of those who lived and worked there in the late 18th and early 19th century. Designed by acclaimed Scottish architect Robert Adam, it was at the heart of Edinburgh's New Town development in the late 1700s. Visitors can explore the grand family rooms, the servants' quarters 'below stairs', and a collection of 18th-century household items.

- No level access and no wheelchair access into or around the property; the four levels are reached via stone staircases with handrails and low lighting. Two ground-floor rooms have step-free access. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout, and there is a complimentary ticket policy for personal carers/companions. Induction loop at the front desk, large print guides in all rooms, information in thirteen languages, a braille guide available on request, and a subtitled introductory film and armchair guide on a tablet at the front desk. Some rooms have low lighting; sound effects and ambience music can be turned off on request.

- No car park or on-street parking at the property. Pay-and-display bays on Glenfinlas Street and St Colme Street are a short, step-free walk away. The nearest car park is NCP Edinburgh Castle Terrace, 0.5 miles (10-minute walk), with 5 disabled spaces.
