The experience

About this day out

The Museum of Chelmsford in Oaklands Park takes visitors through Chelmsford's history from the Ice Age to the present day, with displays and changing exhibitions including a mammoth, an Anglo-Saxon burial, and art by a Turner Prize winner. It is housed in the historic Oaklands House, which also contains The Hive café, and admission can be bought at reception or via an annual membership. The surrounding award-winning Oaklands Park offers sports pitches, tennis courts, play areas, a rose garden and picnic spaces.
